Organisms
You need to define a list of organisms with which you work
with. This list will help you to organize your Strains, Sequences and
Plasmids and speed the searches.
When creating a new organism, just add the name as you
want it to be displayed. Organisms will automatically be displayed in
the selection boxes in the modules, to create new records for Samples
and Strains.
SAVE NEW ORGANISM:
To save new organisms, just write the name in the 'Add new' box and click
Save button.
EDIT ORGANISM LIST:
The list automatically appears when you enter the Organisms Manager. You
just have to edit the text boxes on that list and click on the Update
button.
RELATED ORGANISM:
When creating a new record you may be allowed to indicate a second organism,
called 'Related Organism'. This is particular useful for Plasmids or Strains,
which can contain or express foreign genes.
SEARCH ORGANISM FILTER:
When managing Strains, Plasmids or Sequences, you can filter the search
to a specific organism. This is useful if you have large databases and
don't know exactly the name or the reference of the record you're looking
for.
SEARCH RELATED ORGANISM FILTER:
When managing Strains, Plasmids or Sequences, you can filter the search
to a specific related to organism. If you're looking for a strain containing
a foreign gene, use this filter instead of the organism filter.
