The COVID combo pack from LabCollector offers you to increase you lab efficiency to perform tests for COVID-19. Using the combo pack you can follow your samples, test, report and invoice generation.
COVID combo pack involves the Lab Service Manager add-on (LSM) that is an ultimate add-on for service tests labs. Moreover, LSMRemote is a web portal that allows you to connect to your clients who provide you with the samples. Using the Sample Receiving add-on you can not only plate you samples directly but also send them for testing using LSM add-on. You can also make use of our Tubesorter add-on to plate samples with a help of a robot. Our middleware called I-Collector is useful for connecting lab instruments to LabCollector and in turn LSM add-on. I-Collector helps to automate the testing by directly sending the results to LSM from the instrument such as RT-PCR.
You can use LabCollector for COVID-19 testing like below:
Follow these steps to handle COVID testing using LabCollector:
1. LSMRemote Portal
1.1 Patient pre-registration
2. LabCollector – LSM add-on

4.2 To Patient
4.3 To Government bodies
1. LSMRemote Portal
LSMRemote is a free service portal offered by LabCollector. You can download it by going to your Client Area. After logging in you must go to DOWNLOADS -> ADD-ONS -> LSMREMOTE FOR LSM
It can be integrated into the requesters website to act as a portal system to submit orders for tests to LSM add-on in LabCollector (in test lab). See the first image (step 1-2). Requester: A client or customer who provides samples for testing. Test lab: Service lab where tests are performed on samples with creation of reports and invoices. *Read our KB on LSMRemote installation & integration into website.
It also offers you various add-ons that complement LabCollector. *Read about all our add-ons.
Lab Service Manager (LSM) add-on helps service labs to perform tests independently (or by the jobs received by LSMRemote). Once the sample reaches the test lab, job can be executed inside LSM and results can be created.
*Read our KB on how to send jobs from LSMRemote to LSM add-on.
You need to configure your LSM options like requesters, users, reagents, equipment, sample types, protocols, parameters, result /invoice template, costs, etc, in order to use it. *Read our KB on how to start with LSM.
For example if you need to have Patient Data stored in your LabCollector, you can create a custom Patient module. *Read out KB on how to create a custom module.
You can use the custom fields in patient module and fields from LSM add-on in the report as “dynamic fields“. These fields will help to add the patient information directly in result report. *Read our KB on LSM dynamic fields and text editor options to edit a report template.
This data from the patient module can be connected to the LSM add-on. To do this you need to activate case record function. *Read our KB on how to activate case record function in LSM.
LabCollector is a collaborative LIMS solution hosted on the cloud or on-premises that can improve the data integrity of your lab with powerful automated instrument integration.
LabCollector helps you to connect to OR use files from your lab instruments using middleware & utilities like I-Collector middleware or Parser add-on.
LabCollector LIMS also integrates automation tools allowing scientists to save time and to limit errors. Information is managed in a relational database allowing users to identify, store and link data.
Instrument integration has helped labs with automating the processes in the labs to minimize erroneous procedures and thereby help in FDA & ISO regulations. One of the key things that can cause error in manual data entry.
3.1.a. I-Collector Middleware
I-Collector is a middleware that helps connect Laboratory instruments to LabCollector LIMS. This helps easy data transfer directly from the lab instrument to LabCollector with no space for manual errors. The results from the instruments can also be integrated into LSM add-on to be inserted into the result template. *Read our blog on I-Collector.
LabCollector add-ons not only allow integration of instruments but also help in capturing data automatically from them.
Our parsing add-ons help in acquiring complex data from instrument and break it down into its constituent parts to integrate the information automatically in LabCollector.
Furthermore, our parser add-on allows file parsing everywhere, from folders that are either shared locally or on cloud, making automated data acquisition easier than ever. *Read more about Parser add-on on our LabCollector page.
Once the template is created you can add dynamics fields that helps to automatically fill the fields. For example, you can keep a single template and enter information about the patient or invoice which depends on each test, using dynamic fields. *Read our KB on how to use dynamic fields in templates.
4.1 To LSMRemote
Once the test results are validated and tests are finished the results will be available on the LSMRemote portal.
The requester can then access the report and send it them to the patients further.
4.2 To Patient
LabCollector allows patients to directly access their result report online.
The results need to be send to government authorities to have statistics about the number of infected cases, tests done, etc.
With the help of API technology results can be also reported to local/state authorities.
In order to facilitate this administrative step and to have a rigorous follow-up of the data, we have developed a specialplugin for our I-Collector solutionallowing to execute the sending of a report at a predefined and precise regular interval.
It is thus possible to generate anHL7 message(Health Level Seven : set of international standards for transfer of clinical and administrative data)with a specific data mapping and to send it automatically by the SFTP or SOAP protocol(secured data transmissions)to the administrations.
This tool is currently used in the United States, but it is possible to adapt it to a completely different situation and thus save a considerable amount of time in the execution of this task.
